Episode 5
Char Aznable
(Actually Deikun's son Casval.)

After hiding his identity and becoming an officer of the Principality of Zeon forces, Char fights as an ace mobile suit pilot from the very beginning of the One Year War. His rank is Lieutenant Junior Grade. He participates in the Loum engagement as a Special Assault Battalion commander, and due to his tremendous achievements he will subsequently be known as the "Red Comet."


Sayla Mass
Zeon Zum Deikun's daughter, whose real name is Artesia. Hoping to become a doctor, Sayla has been working at a hospital in Miranda, but she returns to Texas Colony when she learns of the worsening illness of her foster father Teabolo Mass. Side 5, where Sayla resides, will suffer terrible casualties in the destruction of the One Year War.




Amuro Ray
The son of Tem Ray. At Side 7, where Amuro is living, the outbreak of war between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation in U.C. 0079 seems like a very distant event. However, his fate will be greatly changed by a new Federation Forces mobile weapon development project which is secretly being carried out at this Side.

Kai Shiden
One of Amuro's classmates. He is a little older because he has been held back a year. Fraw calls him a delinquent, since he teases her about her concern for Amuro. Kai recruits Amuro, Hayato, and a few others to help him investigate the secrets of Side 7's Development Sector, and they try to break in using a stolen wheel loader.

Degwin Sodo Zabi
The first sovereign of the Principality of Zeon established at Side 3. Degwin named the nation after Zeon Zum Deikun, who raised the flag of rebellion against the Earthnoid-dominated Earth Federation government and advocated for Spacenoid autonomy. He approves of the war of independence that is being launched by Gihren and his other children, but hopes to find a path to a swift resolution.


Gihren Zabi
Supreme commander of the Principality of Zeon, and an admiral in the Principality forces. He supports his father as Degwin becomes sovereign and establishes the Principality of Zeon. On January 3, U.C. 0079, Gihren declares war against the Earth Federation on behalf of the Principality. Aiming for a quick decisive victory, he devises the plan for Operation British.
Kycilia Zabi
The commander of the Principality of Zeon's Armored Assault Force, with the rank of major general. At the beginning of the war of independence, she attacks the lunar cities and captures Granada and Von Braun. She is the fourth child of the Zabi family, and the eldest daughter. She also controls an intelligence service called the Kycilia Agency with authoritative investigatory powers, which attempts to arrest Ramba Ral for disobeying Dozle's orders.
Garma Zabi
The youngest child of the Zabi family, and the fourth son. He is a second lieutenant in the Principality of Zeon forces, and watches the Battle of Loum alongside his father Degwin. Seeing his military academy classmate Char as a rival, Garma anxiously watches his exploits.


Dozle Zabi
A vice admiral in the Principality of Zeon's Space Strike Fleet. The third son of the Zabi family, who supervises the Operation British plan devised by his older brother Gihren. Commanding the Dozle Fleet from his flagship Valkyrie, he waits in the Loum area to halt the advance of the Earth Federation Space Force fleet led by Revil.
Zenna Zabi
Dozle's wife. Though she is bewildered by the way Dozle dotes on his beloved daughter Mineva, she appreciates his basic goodness.
Mineva Zabi
The daughter of Dozle and Zenna.


Ramba Ral
A commander in the Principality of Zeon forces, who pilots an MS-04 Bugu painted in his blue personal colors. He carries out an attack on Side 2 (Hatte), which has sided with the Earth Federation Forces. After this, Dozle orders him to participate in the Operation British plan devised by Gihren, but...


Gaia
A pilot in the Principality of Zeon forces. For his exploits in the attack on the lunar cities at the start of the war of independence, he has been promoted to lieutenant junior grade. In the Battle of Loum, he pilots an MS-06R-1A Zaku II High Mobility Type as the leader of the Black Tri-Stars, and also commands one of the two battalions of the Special Assault Regiment.
Ortega
A pilot in the Principality of Zeon forces. After distinguishing himself on the lunar surface alongside Gaia and Mash, he has been promoted to ensign. In the Battle of Loum, he pilots the new MS-06R-1A Zaku II High Mobility Type as a member of the Black Tri-Stars. He sees Char, the commander of the other battalion in the Special Assault Regiment, as a rival.
Mash
A pilot in the Principality of Zeon forces. After distinguishing himself on the lunar surface alongside Gaia and Ortega, he has been promoted to ensign. The trio are known as the Black Tri-Stars, and from here on, their machines will use black personal colors. Piloting an MS-06R-1A Zaku II High Mobility Type, Mash aims for glory in the Battle of Loum.



Yuki
A young man living at Island Iffish, the capital banchi of Side 2 (Hatte). He volunteers for a militia that was formed to resist the attack of the Zeon forces. In April, he plans to travel to Japan on Earth.

Fang Li
Yuki's girlfriend. When Hatte is attacked by the Zeon forces, she heads for a shelter with her family, and runs into Yuki on the way.


Crowley Hamon
Ramba Ral's lover. She has decided to close Club Eden, and on its final night, she accompanies herself on the piano as she sings a song that expresses her feelings of sympathy for Ramba, who has resigned himself to obscurity.

Tachi O'Hara
A lieutenant junior grade in the Principality of Zeon Forces Intelligence Agency. At some personal risk, he evades the surveillance of the Kycilia Agency to deliver important information to Sayla, with whom he has a past connection, and to Hamon and Ramba.


Clamp
A former bartender at Club Eden, who goes to visit his one-time superior Ramba. Having rejoined the military, he will be participating in the Battle of Loum, where the Principality of Zeon forces are confident of victory.

Cozun
Ramba's former subordinate has rejoined the military in the hope of working with him again. Having volunteered as a mobile suit pilot, he is departing for the Battle of Loum aboard a transport ship.
